Add your first song

Upload audio to SongPilot so your song appears in your library, and learn what happens to a track after the upload finishes processing.

Last updated October 11, 2026

Your song library is the foundation for most of what SongPilot does. Artwork, lyrics, releases, and campaigns all hang off a song, so this is usually the first thing to do in a new workspace.

Upload the audio

Open Songs from the navigation rail. An empty library shows Add Your First Song with the prompt to drag and drop audio files or click to add a song.

You have two ways in:

  • Drag one or more audio files straight onto the page. Several at once is fine, and each becomes its own track.
  • Click Add Song, then Browse Files to pick a file from your computer. This route takes one file at a time.

A toast confirms that the audio upload started.

Wait for processing

After the upload, SongPilot works through a short pipeline. The stages are Uploaded, Transcribed, and Confirmed, and the song shows its current stage while it moves through them.

Uploading is the fast part. Transcription takes longer, because SongPilot is listening to the track to pull out lyrics.

If something goes wrong you will see Upload Failed or Transcription Failed. Check the file against what the uploader accepts, which it states on screen: Supported formats: MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG, M4A • Maximum file size: 200MB. Re-exporting the track inside those limits is the first thing to try.

Organize singles and albums

The library splits into two tabs, Albums and Singles.

A track you upload on its own lands under Singles. To group tracks, create an album and add songs to it; the album then shows a track count and can be expanded with Show tracks or collapsed again.

If you put a track in an album by mistake, click the track to open its page, open the three-dot menu at the top, and choose Remove from Album. It goes back to Singles rather than being deleted.

Fix the details

Click a track to open its page. Edit details covers its title, metadata and artwork, and the Lyrics tab holds the words.

Take a moment on titles now. They flow through to releases and to anything the AI agents write about the track, so a placeholder name tends to resurface later in places you did not expect.

What to do next

With at least one song in the library you can add lyrics, generate artwork, and start planning a release. If your library looks empty after an upload that seemed to succeed, refresh the page first, then use the search box to check the track is not simply filed under the other tab.
