Edit lyrics for a song

Review the lyrics SongPilot detected from your audio, correct them by hand, and re-run detection when a transcription comes back wrong.

Last updated October 11, 2026

SongPilot transcribes lyrics from your audio when you upload a track. Transcription is good but never perfect, and lyrics feed artwork prompts, social copy, and music video scenes, so it is worth a careful read before you build anything on top of them.

Open the lyrics editor

Go to Songs, click the track, and open its Lyrics tab.

If the track has already been through the pipeline, you will see the detected lyrics ready to edit. If it has not, the field may be empty and you can either type the words yourself or run detection.

Run or re-run detection

To have SongPilot listen to the audio again, start lyrics detection from the track. A toast reading Detecting Lyrics confirms it began, and the work takes about a minute.

Copy anything you have corrected by hand before you run detection again.

If detection cannot start you will see Detection Failed. Check the track still has its audio file before looking at the lyrics themselves.

Correct what the transcription missed

A few things are worth checking every time, because they are what transcription gets wrong most often:

  • Proper nouns, names, and place names.
  • Stylized spellings you use deliberately.
  • Ad libs and background vocals, which often arrive merged into the main line.
  • Repeated choruses, which can be collapsed into one instance.

Keep the line breaks meaningful. Lyrics are reused for captions and for music video scenes, and one long block is harder to work with than the same words broken into lines.

Hand your real lyrics to the Songwriter

If you have the song’s lyrics written down, you do not need to fix the transcription line by line. Open the chat, paste the lyrics and say which lines are the verses, the chorus and the bridge. The Songwriter saves them to the song in those sections and keeps each line in time with the recording. Saving is free.

It can also listen to the recording and time every line, including ones the transcription missed, for 45 credits a song. It tells you the price and asks before it does. See Work with the AI agents.

Why this matters downstream

Lyrics are reference material for the rest of the platform. Artwork prompts draw on imagery in the words, content writing pulls phrases for captions, and music video scenes can be built around specific lines.

A transcription error does not stay in the lyrics field. It propagates quietly into everything generated afterwards, which is why fixing it once, early, saves re-generating work later.
