Get set up in your first hour

The order to do things in a new SongPilot workspace, and why each step makes the next one produce better work rather than just ticking a box.

Last updated October 11, 2026

Everything SongPilot generates reads what is already in your workspace. That makes the order of setup matter more than it usually does: each step here makes the next one produce better work, so doing them out of order means redoing things.

Budget an hour. Most of it is the biography.

1. Write the artist profile

Open Artist Profile. Fill in the Biography, and set Genre and Location.

Spend the time here. The biography is what the agents read before writing anything about your act, so it is the single input that decides whether output sounds like you or like anybody. Write prose with real specifics, not keywords.

Your edits save as you type, with a Saving… status near the top of the editor, so there is nothing to submit.

2. Add your first song

Open Songs and add a track. You can drag several audio files at once, or use Add Song and Browse Files for one at a time.

Transcription runs automatically after the upload, so lyrics appear without you starting anything.

3. Read the lyrics

Open the track’s Lyrics tab and correct what transcription missed, especially names and stylized spellings.

This takes five minutes and is worth doing now, because lyrics feed artwork prompts, captions and music video scenes. An error here propagates into everything generated afterwards.

4. Add members and their likeness photos

Open Members and add each person in the act. Only a name is required, so you can add everyone quickly.

Then upload likeness photos for each of them. This is the highest-value step for anything visual: generated images are constrained by the reference photos on file, not by how carefully you word a prompt. Three or four good references each beats a perfect set for one person.

5. Then generate something

Now the workspace can answer questions about itself, so ask a specialist for something small on the Team page and read what comes back.

If it contains details only your workspace could have supplied, the setup is carrying. If it reads like it could be about anyone, go back to the biography.

What to skip for now

Releases, campaigns and social recipes all work better once the above exists, and none of them are urgent on day one. Connecting a social account can wait until you have something to post.

The one thing not worth deferring is the biography. Everything else is downstream of it.
