Build your own social recipe

A recipe decides how every short in a campaign is assembled. Here is what each field does and when to build one instead of adapting a starter.

A recipe is a set of rules for building a short. A campaign runs it repeatedly, and the recipe decides what every one of those posts looks like, so it is worth understanding the fields rather than accepting the defaults.

The builder describes itself plainly: how each short is built when a campaign runs the recipe, with media and brand context resolved at run time. That last part is the important idea. A recipe does not contain your songs or your artwork. It contains instructions, and the media is picked fresh on each run.

Start one

Open Templates and choose New Template.

If an existing recipe is close to what you want, copy it instead. The duplicate control on a recipe’s row makes an editable copy and leaves the original intact, which is safer than editing a starter you might want back.

Name it for when you would use it

Basic Information asks for a Template Name, which is the only required field, and a Description.

Write the description as the occasion rather than the mechanics: “weekly catalog post” tells you when to reach for it, “three clips with a card” does not, and the recipe already says that further down.

Type is Social recipe.

Choose the format

Format is the decision everything else follows from, and there are two.

Clip reel stitches random library video clips, then a CTA card. The builder previews it as three random clips from your library ending on a card, with the same layout every time and the media picks changing per post.

Artwork + song uses the song’s cover art with the artist and song name on screen and the song playing underneath. It picks a song that has both artwork and audio.

Switching format changes the fields below it, because the two are assembled differently.

Clip reel settings

Number of clips sets how many appear. Each clip is a random song paired with a random video asset linked to that song, so this field is really asking how much of your library each post should sample.

Max seconds per clip caps the length used when assembling. The actual clip may come out shorter.

CTA duration (seconds) controls how long the end card holds.

Artwork and song settings

Short length (seconds) is the full duration of the post. There is one asset rather than several, so a single number covers it.

Settings both formats share

CTA text is the end card wording, and defaults to something like Stream now.

Caption (optional) is posted with each short when campaigns run. Leaving it empty is reasonable if you would rather write per post.

Default platforms pre-selects where runs go. The builder notes that campaigns can override this later, so treat it as a default rather than a restriction.

Then Save, or Cancel to discard. Back to Templates returns to the list.

What a recipe needs from your library

A recipe describes something your library has to be able to supply, and this is the usual reason a run produces nothing.

Artwork + song needs songs that have both artwork and audio. A library of tracks without cover art gives it nothing to pick. Clip reel needs video assets linked to songs, not just the songs.

If a campaign runs and nothing appears, check what the recipe requires before assuming the campaign is broken.

When to build rather than adapt

Adapt a starter when you want the same shape with different numbers, different CTA wording, or different platforms. That covers most cases and takes a minute.

Build your own when the shape itself is wrong for what you are doing: a different format, or a length that changes what the post is for. A fifteen second artwork post and a seven second clip reel are different kinds of content, not the same content at different sizes.

What to do next

Attach the recipe to a campaign so it actually runs. Campaigns are where a recipe turns into posts, and you can set one up alongside a release so the promotion is linked to what it promotes.
